Goals from Stephen Eustaquio, Joseph Opoku and Filip Lissah meant this contest was effectively done and dusted by half-time as the Swans ripped a hapless Blackburn Rovers apart at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Ross Stewart, one of three changes from the 5-0 defeat at Loftus Road, even marked his first Swans start by opening his account with an unstoppable fourth midway inside the second half.

If anything, the margin of this victory didn't really tell the full story of Swansea's complete dominance of this contest, against a Blackburn side that had previously won four of their last six outings.

In contrast, Rovers were astonishingly poor all afternoon, but that point will matter little to Swans boss Vitor Matos, who was reminded this week of Swansea's record of just one win against top-half teams so far this season.

Rovers started the day in the top 12, but the gap in quality on show here was an emphatic response to the murmuring critics that had perhaps questioned whether Swansea can really mix it with the top sides in this division.

Swansea were on the front foot from the off, with Opoku first threatening with a shot that was crowded out from the edge of the box inside 10 minutes.

The Ghanaian was then heavily involved in Swansea's opener a few minutes later, gathering possession inside the box after Tymon's cross was only half-cleared, before hooking back from the byline for Eustaquio to tap home.

Filip Lissah sent a speculative effort off-target, while Blackburn's Todd Cantwell perhaps should have done better with a chance on 25 minutes, firing over the bar after beating the offside trap.

Swansea had a chance to double their advantage on half an hour, with Tymon's flashed low cross helped on by both Stewart and Widell, who really should have taken the shot on himself, before Opoku's effort was blocked from close range.

Opoku was superb for much of the afternoon, and soon got the goal his performance deserved, capitalising on Tom Atcheson's mistake following Stephn Welsh's through-ball to race away and slot home.

Swansea's joy was then taken up a further notch four minutes later, with Lissah getting his first ever goal for the club.

Welsh was again at the heart of the move, producing a lovely cross-field pass that was brought down by the youngster, who duly fired in a low shot that despite a hand from Balazs Toth.

Stewart would surely have made it four just before the break had he touche home Eustaquio's low cross just before the break, while Eom side-footed a volley straight at the keeper from Tymon's cross.
